Gone too soon-lah

the flat i was raving about is gone.

nope it wasn't demolished or swallowed underground. although i am secretly wishing this happened instead though.

those f*cking owners accepted a higher bid without even giving us a chance to counter offer. they gave us a verbal acceptance and apparently it doesn't hold much water for those stupid farts. i am terribly upset because that means we have to go look again and believe me flat-hunting wasn't something we enjoyed doing!

the situation though was offset by a conversation i had this morning with our hr folk. turns out, since i am due for promotion, i am entitled to a MUCH bigger housing allowance ergo more condo choices for us. and a MUCH higher transpo allowance which means accessibility shouldn't be a consideration. as you know, public commute is a way of life here -- mode of transport is BMW which stands for Bus, MRT & Walking!!!

and given that the loss of the flat wasn't our fault, we are entitled to another round of look-see, charged to company of course :)

i know i shouldn't be investing emotionally in the flat selection but i can't help it. it will be our house for the next three years even though we'll just be renting it. in fact if we're shrewd, we can pocket half of the allowance and settle for a tiny dingy place. hmm, not a bad idea ...
